They constantly strive to strengthen their position even further and to widen their range of products, not least through different kinds of new services that meets customer needs and demands. In this quest, ID protection solutions provided by EyeonID was a perfect match.
Elkjøp Nordic is by far the largest electronics retailer in the Nordic countries, with a yearly turnover of more than 4 billion EUR and more than 400 stores established in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
The company is part of Dixons Carphone plc. A leading multinational consumer electronics, mobile retailer and services company, employing over 42.000 people in 9 countries. Together, the group is the market leader in the UK & Ireland, throughout the Nordics and in Greece.

This new subscription service applies to almost all age groups and helps Elkjøp to further build their customer base. More importantly, it strengthens and expands the business relationship with their customers on a valuable and recurring level.
Even if ID-theft is growing as such the general public has a rather limited knowledge and awareness about ID-protection. This is of course changing over time but effort and focus should also include supporting and educational material as well.
Adding this specific service came very naturally for Elkjøp since it has a logical connection to many of the other products they usually sell, such as mobile phones and computers. This in turn means it can be bundled and integrated with those products.
But even more importantly - that the service at the same time can be sold as stand-alone as well without any hard dependencies to another specific product.
As ID theft is a growing problem, the market and need for these types of protective solutions will continue to grow, both in volume as well as in importance. This was of course another important aspect for Elkjøp. Furthermore, as it is a problem that in one way or the other can affect most people it isn’t limited to any specific target group. It rather has great mass market relevance.
Compared to an off-the-shelf product, the solution provided by EyeonID could be customized to fit Elkjøp's specific needs. Furthermore, the solution is strengthened and supplemented with an insurance as well as an assistance element.
EyeonID was also able to show and prove that all high demands on security and compliance was met in full which of course is always important. Especially in this specific area and for a partner with a very large customer base.
All this, together with EyeonID's service capabilities and credibility through own proprietary technology made the choice easy in the end.
In less than 6 months we went from signing the contract to soft launch. We integrated the entire service and our customized web portal solution, including a new payment solution and an insurance element, in 4 countries and in 4 local languages.
This means that the service today is offered towards Elkjøp´s customers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
It is primarily sold as a stand-alone offering in stores as well as in Elkjøp´s digital channels. The service is mainly sold and packaged as a pre-paid subscription of 12, 24 or 36 months but Elkjøp is also offering it as “try and buy” where the customer can test the service free of charge for 30 days, whereupon it turns into a monthly subscription.
The service is labeled and communicated with a name set by Elkjøp but the EyeonID brand is also used as an extension in the communication to further build trust as ID-protection solutions are not part of Elkjøp's own core.
The offering was launched to the market during the summer of 2020. in addition to promotion in-store, web channels and tailor made offerings to members of their customer club, Elkjøp has also initiated targeted activities through social media platforms.
